Take-Two Interactive Drops a Financial Bombshell: Be prepared though because the next big adventure of ‘Grand Theft Auto’ is here to steal our hearts and empty our wallets again in 2024.

Besides Take-Two’s statement, the publisher also supplied comments for the financial planning of the upcoming fiscal year starting in April 2020, in PDF. The following is the essential "looking ahead" section:

For the last few years, we have been gearing up our business for a powerful stream of projects that we are sure will lead our company towards even higher achievements. In the next financial year we plan to start a new epoch by releasing blockbusters that are able to exceed $8B of bookings and $1B AOCF. In this process, we aspire to attain better performance on our operating results in Financial Year 2026 and beyond.

In the past year, Zynga contributed to take two’s net bookings of $5.3 billion for the previous fiscal period. The publisher normally takes a cut of $3 billion in net bookings, suggesting that to reach anywhere close to $8 billion, there would need to be a super hit game released in fiscal 2025 that should sell millions. There is only one game on Take-Two's roster that is sure to accomplish those numbers: Grand Theft Auto 6.

Another fact about Fiscal 2026 is that it is going to be a better year than Fiscal 2025 due to GTA 6 expected release at this point, with no doubt an introduction of a brand new GTA online experience. The best selling game of Take-Two Interactive on digital platforms in 2014 was Grand theft auto online, and a similar GTA 6 counterpart would most likely achieve this result too in the next fiscal year.

When IGN interviewed “Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick", they asked whether we should look forward to “another GTA next year" to cover such additional billions. He did, of course, refuse either to admit it or deny it. Moreover, we only knew the game production was going on, and a playable video was also revealed in last September. Similarly, Take-Two has alluded to a 2024 launch for GTA 6.
